    Dan Aykroyd was born in Ottawa Canada on July 1, 1952. At present, the Canadian actor is 70 years old. Aykroyd has been celebrating his birthday with his friends and family on the 1st of July every year. Dan was born and raised in Ottawa.

    Likewise, the actor grew up in the Catholic Church. Dan was determined to become a priest until the age of 17. He holds Canadian nationality and belongs to the white ethnicity. The Canadian actor follows Christianity.

    Dan Aykroyd attended ‘St. Pius X High School’ in Ottawa. Later, he joined ‘St. Patrick’s High School,’ which is also located in Ottawa.

    He was admitted to Carleton University to study political science and criminal sociology1969. Dan used to perform at ‘Sock ‘n’ Buskin,’ a community-based theatre company at the university. Later, he left the university before completing his degree.

    Dan Aykroyd is  the son of Samuel Cuthbert Peter Hugh Aykroyd (Father) and  Lorraine Hélène Marie (Mother). His father was a civil engineer who used to work as a policy adviser to Canadian Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau. Samuel, his father is of English, Irish, Dutch, Scottish, and French ancestry.

    On the other hand, his mother was a secretary and was French Canadian. Similarly, Dan even has a brother who is also an actor. His brother’s name is Peter.

    Dan Aykroyd is a well-known actor, comedian, producer, musician, and writer in Canada. The actor was an original member of the “Not Ready for Prime Time Players” on Saturday Night Live.

    Furthermore, He performed along with John Belushi in music ‘The Blues Brothers,’ on ‘Saturday Night Live,’ and it was later changed into a performing band. Dan started his acting career with a television show titled ‘The Hart and Lorne Terrific Hour.’

    He considered a turning point in his acting career after meeting with comedian John Belushi. dan even received ‘Emmy Award’ for his writing in ‘Saturday Night Live.’ The actor was also nominated for the award for his performance in SNL.

    In addition, Aykroyd performed as an actor, writer, and producer for several comedy shows and children’s shows like ‘Change for a Quarter’ and ‘Coming Up Rosie,’ which were released on local television in Toronto.

    Dan joined the ‘Second City’ improvisational troupe in 1973 which provided him with the opportunity to work with famous personalities like Bill Murray, John Candy, and Gilda Radner.

    The same year the actor also worked as a television announcer and managed a nightclub. Fortunately, Dan even got an opportunity to meet the renowned comedian and writer John Belushi at a time when the latter was looking for new talent in Toronto for a radio show titled ‘The National Lampoon Radio Hour.’

    Dan was featured along with Belushi in the first season of the comedy television series ‘Saturday Night Live in 1975. Likewise, he revived the musical act ‘Blue Brothers’ with host James Belushi as a part of the show.

    Meanwhile, he set up the ‘House of Blues,’  in 1992, in association with several well-known personalities. House of Blues is a chain of thirteen live music concert halls to promote the cultural contributions of African-Americans to blues music and folk art.

    Similarly, on March 24, 2007, Dan made a guest appearance on ‘Saturday Night Live as a fan of ‘American Idol finalist Sanjaya Malakar. On February 14, 2009, he portrayed U.S. House Minority leader John Boehner in the show.

    Dan Aykroyd was married to Donna Dixon in 1983. Like him, his wife is also an actress who has portrayed the roles along with him in his films like ‘Doctor Detroit’ and ‘The Couch Trip’. The couple has 3 daughters from their marriage. In April 2022, the couple got separated.
