Emmanuel Bonaventure started his career at Accademia di Abuja in Abuja, Nigeria. He then joined Zorya Luhansk of the Ukrainian Premier League in March 2016 and made his debut against Olimpik Donetsk on July 24th of the same year, scoring the opening goal in a 3-0 win.
He sat on the bench most of the time. On November 3rd, he faced Feyenoord in the UEFA Europa League. In the group stage, he played against Fenerbahce and Manchester United.
On December 11th, he scored his second professional goal against Stal Kamianske, and the club won 2-0. He scored six goals in 22 games to help Zorya finish third.
Surprisingly, on May 30, 2017, Club Brugge announced that they have signed Emmanuel for €1.2 million over four years. His jersey/shirt number was 42.
