Ian Huntley, a former Grimsby school caretaker, was convicted in 2003 of killing two 10-year-old schoolgirls, Holly Wells and Jessica Chapman, who were lured into Ian’s house and killed, also known as the Soham murders.
More than 400 police personnel were assigned to the investigation of the missing schoolgirls, whose remains were discovered 13 days after the murder on August 17, 2002. His inhuman crime has earned him the moniker of a beast that commits wrongdoings.
Ian is still alive after more than a decade and is serving two life sentences in HMP Frankland in County Durham, where he was also assaulted twice by a fellow prisoner in 2010 and 2017. For his crime, he is anticipated to be imprisoned until at least 2042.
Ian Huntley’s Bio
Ian Huntley was born in Grimsby, England, on January 31, 1974. Ian Huntley is his given name. He is a British citizen. Huntley is of White race, and his zodiac sign is Aquarius. Ian Huntley, the oldest son of Kevin Huntley (father) and Linda Huntley (mother), was reared in his hometown with his brother Wayne, where he attended school. His youth, on the other hand, was not full of joyful recollections since he was bullied since he was a toddler.
As a result of the constant abuse, he created and aggressively promoted the Grimsby and Immingham chapter of the Bros fan club. His engagement in that club had grown to the point where he was no longer in charge, and he was moved to a new school as a result. He, on the other hand, graduated from high school in the summer of 1990 with five A-C marks in his GCSEs. Throughout the 1990s, Huntley worked in a variety of low-wage, unskilled occupations. Even at that time, he was being probed by the police for rape, underage sex, indecent assault, and burglary on at least ten times.
Ian Huntley’s Career
In 1999, Ian Huntley and his then-girlfriend Maxine Carr started working as bartenders at Hollywood’s nightclub in Grimsby. Ian worked as a bartender while also assisting his father, who was a school caretaker. In November 2001, he applied for a caretaker post at Soham Village College and started working as a school caretaker guy. Prior to 2002, he worked as a bartender, a fish factory worker, and a school caretaker until he was sentenced to life in jail for the heinous crime of killing two adolescents.
On August 4, 2002, on a Sunday evening, two local ten-year-old girls named Holly Wells and Jessica Chapman went by Ian Huntley’s home on their way to school, unaware of what was about to happen to them. Ian then invited the girls to his home since they knew his then-girlfriend, Carr, and they walked inside without hesitation, only to be killed soon after. The girls were reported missing later that evening, and Ian was on the news for the following several weeks. Fortunately, 13 days after the event, the remains were discovered in Suffolk, around 12 miles away.
Huntley was charged with the murders of both girls on August 20 of that year, although it was ultimately established that there was no premeditation. Following an inquiry, it was discovered that Ian had a major phone disagreement with Carr immediately before seeing the girls strolling by, and that in his wrath, he executed the murders cruelly by drowning the children. Following that, he went through multiple trials and even attempted suicide to make himself seem mentally incapable of standing trial, but justice was served when he was sentenced to life in jail with a minimum period of 40 years to serve. His terrible acts also came out shortly after his sentencing: he had been accused of rape and sexual misbehavior multiple times in previous years, and he was suspected of being a serial sex offender. Ian was assaulted multiple times in jail between 2010 and 2017; he was thrown boiling water on him and was stabbed with a knife, although the incident was not life-threatening.
Ian Huntley’s Personal Life
Ian Huntley was only married once, to Claire Evans. However, the couple divorced in 1999 after just a few years of marriage. When asked about Ian, his ex-wife Carie Evans stated that he subjected her to physical and emotional violence throughout their marriage. He soon started dating his then-girlfriend Maxine Carr, with whom he shared an apartment and worked. Ian was still living with Carr at the time of the murder. Carr’s bond with the children became a crucial factor in the children’s deaths. Following his jail sentence, there were allegations that Ian was transsexual, which were eventually debunked. He also dated a girl called Emma Fish when she was just 15 years old and Huntley was already 22. Emma confessed that she was groomed by Ian when she was 15 years old before moving in with him, making her one of the convicted murderer’s victims.
Despite the fact that she was pregnant with Ian’s kid, she was subjected to the same abuse and was compelled to inform social services that they weren’t sleeping together. “He grabbed me by the neck and shouted if you ruin this for me, I’ll kill you,” Emma recounted of Ian’s reaction when he learned the news. She subsequently had a miscarriage.
Ian Huntley’s Net Worth
Ian Huntley, who worked as a bartender and a school caretaker for a brief time, didn’t have a lot of money since he was likely having financial problems at the time of the killing. His net worth would most likely be about $10,000 even if he just worked for a short period.
