Jes Staley is an American banker who is widely renowned to be the former group chief executive(CEO) of Barclays, the worldwide universal bank from which he stepped down on November 1, 2021, after being replaced by C. S. Venkatakrishnan.
Staley has approximately four decades of expertise in banking and financial services, having began his profession at the age of 23 in 1979. He became the CEO of J.P. Morgan’s investment bank after spending more than 34 years there, and subsequently the CEO of Barclays plc. He was also a member of the Institute of International Finance’s board of directors.
