    Mickey Rourke is a famous actor and former boxer in America. He has appeared as a leading man in drama, action, and thriller films.

    Furthermore, Mickey was once a boxer with an impressive number of victories in his boxing career which many people don’t know till now. He came into the limelight with his film Body Heat, and later became a sensational actor with the film ‘9 1/2 Weeks.’

    In the 1970s, he moved to New York from Florida in order to pursue his career in acting. He went there to study acting under actress Sandra Seacat. The actor plays the role of a supporting character in films like ‘Rainmaker’, ‘Buffalo ’66’, ‘Get Carter’, ‘The Pledge’, and several others.

    Later, He got the lead role in ‘Sin City’ in 2005, for which he received several awards including the Chicago Film Critics Association award.

    Mickey Rourke’s Biography

    Mickey is a senior citizen born in the year 1952 on September 16 in Schenectady, New York. His real name is Philip Andre “Mickey” Rourke Jr. but the actor is popularly known and referred to as Mickey Rourke.

    Likewise, the entertainment industry has always remained grateful to them for giving the world talent as priceless as Andre. He is the son of  Annette (née Cameron) and Philip Andre Rourke Sr.

    His parents were both of mixed descent and ancestry. His mom had Scottish, French, English, and German ancestry whereas his dad was of Irish and German descent.

    He was born Roman Catholic family. Mickey was raised along with a brother and a sister. He has a brother named Joey, and a sister whose name is Patricia. Rourke was 6 years old when his dad, divorced his mom.

    Furthermore, Mickey Rourke attended Miami Beach Senior High School, where he spent ample time engaging in a lot of sporting activities up until his graduation in 1971.

    After his graduation, Rourke started self-defense training at the Boys Club of Miami where he started to develop an interest in boxing.

    Mickey Rourke’s Boxing Career

    At the age of 12, he develops his interest in sports.  Mickey Rourke was really interested to pursue a boxing career.

    Similarly, Being someone who commits his heart to whatever he wants to do, his first boxing match marked his first victory as an amateur fighter in a 112-pound (51 kg) flyweight duel in 1964.

    All he needed was a victory to keep his steam running as he advanced to the 140 pounds (63.5 kg) category where Mickey faced off with would-be and now former World Welterweight Champion Luis Rodríguez.

    Moreover, Phil Rourke which was whose ring name then revealed that he suffered a concussion in the match. Mickey also suffered another concussion at the 1971 Florida Golden Gloves after which doctors advised him to take time off the ring.

    Later, the boxer returned as a professional boxer in the year 1991 with a win in 6 out of 8 fights, the other two fights ended in draws for him.

    He then went on to fight in countries like Japan, Spain, and Germany recording several victories and making his mark as a professional boxer.

    But, the sports took a toll on his physical appearance as Mickey sustained many injuries some of which were badly treated.

    In total, he recorded a total of 27 wins (17 knockouts) with 3 losses in his amateur boxing career. Unfortunately, His professional boxing records are not available at the moment but we know he fought in an exhibition match against Elliot Seymour in Moscow, Russia on November 28, 2009.

    Likewise, The match ended in the second round as he knocked out his opponent. Elliot would, however, later reveal that he was paid by Rourke’s team to dive in the second round but Rourke didn’t know.

    Mickey Rourke’s Plastic Surgery

    Mickey was advised by the doctor to take some time off from the ring but he didn’t do that. That results in injuries for which he frequently had surgeries to fix.

    The professional boxer suffered short-term memory loss, a split tongue, compressed cheekbone, broken nose, toe, and ribs. He got suffered a lot of facial injuries.

    He decided to do plastic surgery as he knew he looked terrible. In the early 90s, Mickey Rourke went for plastic surgeries and came out worse than he went in. Mickey mentioned that he had his surgery done by the wrong person who in an attempt to better his looks, made him uglier.

    The boxer has also gone under the knife several more times recently but never got better.

    Mickey Rourke’s Acting Career
