Since March 26, 2021, Rachel Levine, an American doctor and four-star admiral, has been the US assistant secretary for health. She was Pennsylvania’s physician general from 2015-17 and afterwards its secretary (2017-21).
She teaches pediatrics and psychiatry at Penn State. Levine is the first female PHSCC four-star admiral and one of the few openly transgender government leaders in the United States.
