    Sanjay Gupta was born on October 23, 1969 in Novi, Michigan, the United States. Sanjay Gupta is an American neurosurgeon, medical reporter, and author. He is an assistant professor of neurosurgery at Emory University School of Medicine and the associate chief of neurosurgery at Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia. He is a member of the National Academy of Medicine and the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, and he is CNN’s chief medical correspondent.

    Sanjay’s parents, Subhash Gupta and Damyanti Gupta met in Livonia, Michigan, while working as engineers for Ford Motor Company prior to their marriage. His younger brother, Suneel Gupta, is also a musician.

    Sanjay Gupta’s Educational Qualification 

    Gupta graduated from Novi High School and went on to get his Bachelor of Science degree in biomedical sciences from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, as well as his M.D. from the University of Michigan Medical School in 1993. He was a member of Inteflex, an already accelerated medical education program that admitted medical students straight out of high school.

    While an undergraduate, Gupta was a member of the Men’s Glee Club and served as an orientation leader for the freshmen orientation program. He also served as president of the Indian American Students Association (IASA), which is currently the university’s second-largest student group. In 2000, Gupta finished his specialization in neurological surgery at the University of Michigan Health System, followed by a fellowship at the Semmes Murphy Clinic in Memphis, Tennessee.

    Gupta, an Emory Healthcare general neurosurgeon at Grady Memorial Hospital, has skills with spines, trauma, and 3D image-guided surgeries. He has written articles for medical journals about percutaneous pedicle screw implantation, brain tumors, and spinal cord abnormalities. In 2001, Sanjay Gupta joined CNN. Following the September 11, 2001 attacks on the United States, he reported from New York. Gupta co-hosted the University of Michigan Team Cast alongside former Wolverine kicker Jay Feely during the school’s appearance in the 2018 NCAA Men’s Final Four, which was broadcast on CNN’s sister network TNT.

    Gupta traveled to Kathmandu to capture the aftermath of a massive earthquake that struck Nepal in 2015. Gupta has shifted his concentration in recent years to long-form reporting. He is the host of the CNN Original Series “Chasing Life with Dr. Sanjay Gupta,” which follows Gupta on his trip throughout the world in search of the secret to living a longer, healthier, and happier life. Gupta also appears in the HBO Original Documentary “One Nation Under Stress,” which investigates why life expectancy in the United States is falling.
