Early Success (1960-1975)
Tina Turner used to visit nightclubs in St. Louis. One day she met her future husband Ike Turner. Ike recognized her talent and gave her a chance to record a song with him as a background singer in 1958. In 1959, she recorded a dummy vocal for Ike’s song.
Ike and Tina started singing together and released their first single titled “A Fool in Love” in 1960. The song reached the 2nd position on the Hot R&B Sides. Later, the duo signed a contract with Loma Records and they gave live performances all over the United States.
