Zlatko Dalic was a former professional footballer in Croatia. He was a member of the Croatian national team. His position on the pitch was defensive midfielder. He formerly worked as an assistant coach with the Croatian national team’s under-21 football squad, Drazen Ladicas. He is now the coach and manager of the Croatian national team.

Career as a couch surfer
After his playing career ended in 2000, Zlatko joined Varteks as an assistant coach. He was the club’s sport director from May 2002 until May 2005. During the seasons 2003-04 and 2004-05, he also serves as Miroslav Blazevic’s assistant coach. He took over as manager of Varteks in May 2005, and in his first season, he finished third in the Croatian First League and reached the final of the Croatian Football Cup.
After his contract with Varteks expired in the summer of 2007, he became the manager of HNK Rijeka, which placed fourth at the conclusion of the 2007-08 season. In the 2008-09 season, Zlatko was the manager of Albanian Champions Dinamo Tirana, who won the Albanian Super Cup. After losing two consecutive derbies against Partizani, he resigns with the club in February 2009.
In 2009, he returned to Croatia and took over NK Slaven Belupo, the third Croatian football team. He became the coach of Al-Faisaly, a new club in the Saudi Professional League, in the 2010-11 season. The club qualified for the Saudi Professional League’s King’s Cup at the conclusion of the season. In the Saudi Professional League, he was crowned the best coach of the year.
Zlatko signed a deal with Al-Hilal to lead the Al-Hilal B team on May 3, 2012, and made his management debut against his previous club Al-Faisaly in the semi-final of the 2012-13 Saudi Crown Prince Cup on February 9, 2013. He was voted 13th best coach in the world for that month as the manager of Al-Hilal.
Zlatko was named head coach of Al-Ain football club in the United Arab Emirates on March 8, 2014. He guided Al-Ain to the top of their group in the AFC Champions League 2014 group stage matches. He was named the club’s head coach for the next two seasons on April 30, 2014. Al-Ain defeated league champion Al-Ahli in the final game of the UAE President’s Cup on May 18, 2014.
At the start of the second season, Zaltko’s squad won both quarterfinal matches in the AFC Champions League 2014, but lost two semifinal matches, knocking Al-Ain out of the competition. Zlatko was named the best coach of the year 2014 at the conclusion of the year. Al-Ain advanced to the round of 16 of the 2015 AFC Champions League after finishing first in group B with 12 points. Al-Ain won the UAE Arabian Gulf League for the 12th time in 2014-15, and Zlatko was named coach of the year at the award ceremony for the UAE Arabian Gulf League.
Zlatko was selected head coach of the Croatian national team by the Croatian Football Federation. He said that he would only stay as Croatia’s head coach if the country qualified for the 2018 FIFA World Cup. Croatia has so qualified for the 2018 FIFA World Cup. Croatia defeated Nigeria in the first match on June 16, 2018. Croatia beat Argentina 3-0 on June 21, 2018, with to goals from Ante Rebic, Luka Modric, and Ivan Rakitic. Croatia advanced to the round of 16 and overcame Denmark in a penalty shootout after a tie. Croatia advances to the semifinals after defeating Russia in a penalty shootout in the quarterfinals. They defeated England 2-1 to go to the final, where they will meet France on July 15, 2018.
Personal Life
In terms of his personal life, he stands at 5 feet 10 inches tall. He was a happily married man. In the year 1992, he married Davorka Propadalo. Toni and Bruno Dalic, the couple’s two sons, were born to them. He’s a devout Roman Catholic.
